Our Founder
Wendell F. Alexander
Wendell Alexander Realty was established in October of 1985 by our founder, Wendell F. Alexander.
Mr. Alexander found much joy in the real estate industry. His career spanned for over 45 years. Before establishing his own company, he assisted clients in finding their dream homes in Weakley County and in Columbia, Tennessee. In addition to real estate, Mr. Alexander was a cattle farmer and friend to many farmers across the state of Tennessee. He and his wife Shirley owned a cattle farm outside of Dresden which is still active today.
He was an active member of Reelfoot Regional Association of Realtors®, Tennessee Association of Realtors® and National Association of Realtors®. In 2005, he received an appointment by Governor Phil Bredesen to serve on the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. He also served on Tennessee's first Real Estate Appraiser Commission under Governor Ned Ray McWherter. In 2008, he was bestowed the honor of Realtor Emeritus by the National Association of Realtors®.
As an Army veteran, Master Mason, and Shriner, Mr. Alexander understood the significance of “God and country.” He lived his life to serve others. As a member of the local American Legion, he served as Vice-Commander, and in 2001, he received a certificate of recognition for 40 years as a Master Mason.
Our friend and founder, Wendell F. Alexander passed away at his home on July 28, 2017. We are proud of the legacy he left behind for us. Wendell paved the path that allows us to continue to turn our clients’ real estate dreams into realities.
In 2018, the Wendell Alexander Scholarship Endowment was established by Mr. Alexander’s grandsons Jake Bynum and Alexander Bynum, along with their respective wives, Alyssa and Kate. This scholarship is to reward and encourage success for Weakley County high school graduates planning to study agriculture or agriculture business at UT Martin.
His grandson, Alexander Bynum, is now the Principal Broker and owner of Wendell Alexander Realty.
